The Pinterest Logo
In May 2011, Pinterest revealed its new logo, designed by Michael Deal and typographer Juan Carlos Pagan (jcpagan.com). On their blog, Pinterest shared some of the key points in developing this logo:
The team used a logotype as the primary mark and developed a badge that repeats the initial letter
Moods for the logo included casual, carefully crafty, and nostalgic (but not retro)
Bolder type was required to respond to the smaller states the logo would appear in, especially on mobile screens
Using the lowercase italic “r” gave the logotype a bit more own-ability and charm.
The weight of the “P” was balanced by the weight of the “st” ligature at the end of the logo

Use Pinterest to Get Your Creations Discovered
Let’s say you’re a fashion designer who makes clothing out of recycled tires. Beautiful clothing. But it’s all made from recycled rubber. The problem when it comes to marketing your product in the traditional search-focused online space is this: no one is typing “recycled rubber clothing” in Google (except maybe fetishists).
No one’s searching for your product. Because they don’t even know that such a thing exists.

But that’s as far as that goes. They found you; they favorited you; they left Etsy… and it’s like that whole interaction never happened.
Now let’s say instead of being favorited on Etsy, someone pins you to one of their Pinte…

We didn’t build this company to build a really hot tech startup; what we wanted to do is building a product that people actually use and that enhances their lives. It’s part of our philosophy — we want to build something that everybody finds useful.
